I am a third Mate and in my current role I work as a navigator officer, I handle safe cargo management, LSA and FFA officer.
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing motherhood and my career. I have a 1 year old daughter and I have to leave her for months because of work, my pregnancy was also challenging while I was on board.
I would like to encourage shipping companies to avoid discriminating female seafarers and to provide favourable policies and conditions for them to do their work.
